6:30 pm: Mac Basics

7:00 pm: You and iChat
iChat, included with Mac OS X, is a rich instant messaging application that works with your AIM or MobileMe account and makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family using text and video, whether they’re on a Mac or a PC. Most Mac computers include a built-in iSight camera and mic. When you use them with iChat, you get the easiest way to have high-quality video and audio chats with your friends and family. You can chat with just one other person or make it a party by starting a multiway chat. Featuring a three-dimensional view, iChat practically puts everybody in the room with you. View their faces reflected into space, just as if they were sitting around a conference room table. And with video backdrops built into iChat, you can make it look like you’re chatting from the Eiffel Tower, under the sea, or your own custom backdrop. Join us as David Kline shows how to keep in touch with iChat.

7:00 pm: The Great New Apple Products and the “State of the Apple Union” in 2009

Fortune Magazine named Steve Jobs the CEO of the Decade this week. “Steve Jobs revived Apple and remade entire industries, defying the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression — and his own serious health problems.” “After creating more than $150 billion in shareholder wealth, transforming movies, telecom, music, and computing (and profoundly influencing the worlds of retail and design), what should Steve Jobs do next?” Apple is ending 2009 with a great line of products including new iMacs and a fun Magic Mouse. Join us as Bobby Morrison will be talking about the new Apple products including a demo of the new Magic Mouse. Looks like this holiday season will be another banner quarter for Apple!

Systems Preferences and MobileMe

Systems Preferences allow you to control the settings and customize many aspects of your Mac. Knowing how to use these preferences will make your Mac experience even more enjoyable. MobileMe is Apple’s “cloud computing” service which allows you to access the information on your home computer when you are using a computer anywhere, not just your own. If you don’t know about “cloud computing”, this is a great time to learn about it and how convenient it is to have MobileMe.
