GMUG Meeting: Monday, November 9, 2009

Wireless is available, so bring your laptops.

6:30 pm: Mac Basics
7:00 pm: The Great New Apple Products and the “State of the Apple Union” in 2009

Fortune Magazine named Steve Jobs the CEO of the Decade this week. “Steve Jobs revived Apple and remade entire industries, defying the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression — and his own serious health problems.” “After creating more than $150 billion in shareholder wealth, transforming movies, telecom, music, and computing (and profoundly influencing the worlds of retail and design), what should Steve Jobs do next?” Apple is ending 2009 with a great line of products including new iMacs and a fun Magic Mouse. Join us as Bobby Morrison will be talking about the new Apple products including a demo of the new Magic Mouse. Looks like this holiday season will be another banner quarter for Apple!

Meeting Place: Grace Baptist Church Choir Room

5020 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC 29687

I decided to open a new category on this blog section of our web site called, “Member Questions” a benefit for members of the group.  A long time member and maintainer of our e-mail list, Scottie Hodge asks,

“do you know of anyone (mac user) that is sequencing midi files on their mac?  In other wordsmaking their own backing tracks with their mac?”

If anyone has any suggestions for Scottie please leave a comment here by clicking on the comments link above.  I’ll try to set up a “member questions” form soon on the site.

For quite sometime I have been subscribing and following Don McCalister’s ScreencastsOnline video podcast in which Don gives great tutorials on Mac apps and an easy to understand format. I also have recently subscribed to Don’s, “My Own Reality” blog and a recent post mentioned that Joseph Nilo of the Mac Mediacast had a great video review of the iPhone. I check it out and subscribed to his video podcast. I was pleasantly surprised that Joseph is actually in Asheville,NC and he showed an Asheville at&t store in his recent podcast. Check it out. Great to see such a well produced podcast locally about Macs.

Update – I just realized where I may have heard Joseph and it was on the Mac Roundtable Podcast.
