I stopped by the Best Buy AppleShop over the weekend to see the new iPad display (really cool!!!) & got a chance to chit chat with Bobby (our resident Apple guru & Apple employee) and noticed that all the Apple laptops & iMacs are on sale through mid-November – this was an unexpected bonus!! An Apple sale is a rare event indeed & I am probably going to take advantage of the sale and buy myself a new 13″ MacBook Pro for my Christmas present!! Remembering Steve: A Special GMUG Event (10/10 @ 7PM)

Today we all are saddened by the announcement of the passing of Steve Jobs – the visionary mind behind some of the greatest achievements in modern technology – his influence reaches farther than the personal computer – smartphones, portable music, entertainment, etc… all have been influenced in one way or another by Steve’s vision – our GMUG community would not exist had it not been for Steve Jobs deciding to “think different” & invent the personal computer – it is with this that I would like to announce that this coming Monday our monthly GMUG meeting will be a celebration of the life of Steve Jobs, a celebration of Apple and most importantly a celebration of YOU & how Steve’s vision has changed your life. We will all laugh, cry and have a good time sharing our stories, both good and bad about our experiences with Apple products. Please join us at this very special evening celebrating the “Life of Steve”

New Events Happening At The Best Buy AppleShop

…hey everyone – I stopped by the AppleShop @ Best Buy yesterday & got a chance to talk to Bobby (Mr. Apple himself!!) and he dropped some hints about some exciting events, workshops, etc… coming to the AppleShop this Fall. While he wouldn’t go into any great detail he did say that the seminars/workshops that he conducts are gonna be more frequent and a broader range of topics. Plus, there are gonna be some User Group centered events @ the Apple Shop. So as summer winds down (not gonna miss the heat!!!!) looks like things at the AppleShop are “heating up”!!! One more thing…I don’t know how many of you own iPads (or have friends/family/co-workers that own iPads) Bobby holds a weekly workshop @ the AppleShop on understanding all the cool/productive things you can do with your iPad – it’s every Tuesday night from 6pm-7:30pm – I’ve been to one of the iPad Workshops and I learned more in 1.5 hours than I had in the 3 months that I’ve owned my iPad!!! Take care & we will all see each other at the Sept. GMUG Meeting!!!!

Hey everyone!!! this coming Saturday is the monthly Apple Answers Day @ The Best Buy AppleShop – this months event is all about digital photography & iPhoto ’11. GMUG June Meeting Special Venue Announcement

Once again we are fortunate enough to have been offered the meeting facility @ Larkin’s On The River (http://www.larkinsontheriver.com/) in downtown Greenville. This months meeting will be all about the announcements from the Apple World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco this week. Our local Mac Guru & Apple employee Bobby Morrison will be talking about all the new stuff from Apple: iCloud, iOS 5 & Mac OS X Lion…plus “time willing” there might be a surprise or two!!! Let’s have a big turnout to show Larkin’s how much we appreciate them for offering their meeting facility for our meeting. Apple World Wide Developers Conference Announcements

This week has been an exciting week in the world of Apple…the World Wide Developers Conference is finishing up in San Francisco and as usual Apple has announced some pretty awesome stuff. The next generation operating system called OS X Lion will become available in July, iOS 5 for the iPhone, iPad & iPod touch is coming this fall & MobileMe is changing to iCloud during the fall as well. GMUG March Meeting: Special Meeting Location

hey everyone – we have a special announcement for the March GMUG meeting…as you all remember from the Feb. GMUG meeting…Bobby announced that he was working with Larkin’s On The River restaurant for some of our future meetings – well, I spoke with Bobby today & he informed me that he had secured the meeting facility @ Larkin’s for our March meeting. This is super exciting news!!! This coming Monday night (3/14) our March GMUG meeting will be held at Larkin’s On The River – located in beautiful downtown Greenville. hey guys I just got this from Bobby – sounds pretty exciting!! can’t wait till tomorrow!!!

FYI: Macapalooza is changing it’s name (temporarily) to iPadapalooza!!!

Hey everyone – just wanted to let you know about a fun all day event coming up tomorrow @ the Best Buy AppleShop…as you all know tomorrow is the launch of iPad 2 @ 5pm…well to celebrate the launch & to have some fun – the Best Buy AppleShop is hosting an all day “Apple Open House” dedicated to all things Apple & then @ 5pm the iPad 2 is unveiled and will be available for purchase…hands-on demos of the iPad 2 will begin promptly at 5pm. Throughout the day I will be giving hourly demos on all the new Apple hardware, software and speaking about iOS 4.3 – there will be candy, trivia, etc…plus the “Inflatable Palm Tree” is def gonna be in attendance all day!!! Avoid the Friday mall insanity traffic & stop by the AppleShop to hang out with fellow Apple users, learn more about Apple hardware/software & experience the new iPad 2, and pick one up for yourself!!! Tell your friends, family, coworkers, a stranger on the street!!! I’ll see you all tomorrow!!!
